Hours of Work   40 hours per week. Overtime as required based on operational needs. Will include working shift work including evenings, weekends and holidays.




  • Anchoring newscasts or special broadcasts as required – will include working nights and weekends.
  • Live on the scene reporting.
  • Evaluating news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
  • Working closely with the producer to develop the daily newscast line-up.
  • Gathering and verifying information through interviews, observations and research.
  • Organizing material, writing stories based on information obtained, and vetting scripts.
  • Meet deadlines and a strong attention to detail.
  • Use various media to provide updates and news stories and newscasts to the public.
  • Contribute to promotional activities of the newsroom including but not limited to public appearances, support of community events, and promotion of newscasts to various media.
  • Actively contribute to newsroom leadership.
  • Serve as a role model for excellent communication and interpersonal skills within the newsroom.
  • Good understanding of journalistic ethics is essential.
  • Other duties as assigned.




  •  Outstanding on-air presentation.
  •  Five years anchoring experience.
  • Two years’ experience as a videographer with excellent shooting, writing and editing skills.
  • College or University degree or diploma, preferably in Broadcast Journalism.
  • Proven reputation as a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoys getting involved in the production of the product, and loves news and current affairs.
  • Strong editorial skills when it comes to line-up and story evaluation.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism. Must be well read on current affairs and have a wide-range of working knowledge and understanding of general interest subjects, current events and people in the news.
  • Reside in Barrie area.
  • Ability to be a strong ambassador for the station


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
