Position: Researcher, Field Producer, Bell Media

Location: 2885 Robie St., Halifax, Nova Scotia

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week.  Overtime as required, including weekends, early mornings, evenings



  • Researching, planning, selecting, writing and recommending material, and coordinating content and production for television programming
  • Collects and analyzes pertinent information relating to specific assignments
  • Provides ideas and participates in planning discussions with producers, VJ’s and co-hosts/hosts-anchors to determine story line or program focus
  • Briefs on-air and other staff on program topics; may conduct interviews and voice material when circumstances warrant
  • Researches, investigates and consults outside organizations and individuals regarding accuracy, qualifications, authenticity of guests, interviewees and material
  • Develops contacts for future assignments
  • Responsible for production/direction of specific program segments
  • Directs crew and on-air personnel through actual production
  • May prepare rundowns/scripts/font lists / VTR elements/graphics
  • May time news to facilitate accurate on-air and off-air times as well as timing for commercial inserts
  • Presenting segments on-air may be required
  • Liaising with the Producer, Director and Traffic Department to ensure all program, commercial and sponsorship elements are included in the shows
  • Other duties as required



  • Post secondary education in Broadcasting, Journalism or equivalent
  • On-air experience as a VJ or segment host is an asset
  • Experience in multiple broadcast mediums is an asset
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Accuracy, including timing, spelling and other content elements
  • Ability to be accurate under the pressure of live programming
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Self-starter
  • Experience with iNews is a definite asset
  • Must be a team player who can work well under pressure, meet deadlines
  • Previous work experience in a live broadcast environment is an asset
  • Previous control room experience is a definite asset


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
