We are looking for an energetic Weekend Swing personality to entertain on weekends and provide vacation relief (voice track and live) for other shifts as necessary. Our current weekender is moving to a Major Market.  That’s the kind of thing we do…develop success!  We develop great on air personalities that exude the Pop Culture lifestyle. 

 

As well as a great on-air personality who runs a tight, music filled show, you should be well versed in social media, posting regular and engaging updates to the station social media accounts.  Experience shooting and editing video is a big plus for our online video series.

 

Last, but certainly not least, you should be a positive influence in the hallways, passionate about broadcast radio and not afraid to work hard (and play hard!) every day. Living and working in Canada’s sunshine capital, Kelowna, BC, while you grow your skills and career, is a huge plus for this role. 

 

Now for the “official stuff”:

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Regular on-air weekend shifts
  • Preparing, planning, and executing your show including researching and conducting interviews
  • Regularly scheduled vacation coverage for other on-air hosts. Availability on a  flexible schedule is a must with this position.
  • Maintain strong social media presence on behalf of the station
  • Provide online content for station website
  • Shoot end edit video for station websites
  • Remote broadcasts and station appearances
  • Voice tracks when required

 

Skill Requirements

 

  • At least 2 years on-air experience (outside of school)
  • Above average social media skills
  • Killer public speaking ability
  • Video camera shooting and editing skills
  • Must be extremely motivated and a self-starter.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication, writing and creativity.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Have genuine interest in current events of the communities that we broadcast to.
  • The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in broadcasting, or related experience
  • Knowledge of Maestro and Operation of broadcast console definitely an asset.
  • A valid class 5 BC driver’s license (or equivalent) will be required
  • Strong references

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
