Description

The Storage/Data Protection Administrator is a part of a Bell support team that is responsible for hands on technical support of large enterprise environment. Day to day tasks will include the administration of enterprise storage, disaster recovery, and data protection environments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for architecture/upgrade/update planning within the customer environments ( backup and storage )
  • Provide day-to-day administration and support of a heterogeneous computing environment.
  • Responsible for the development of technical documentation
  • Provide “on call” support as needed for customer environments on weekends and after hours ( if required )
  • Administration of SAN( Brocade ) and storage arrays (IBM, HDS, HP)
  • Administration of Veritas Netbackup, TSM and other backup technologies.
  • Administration of HDS HCP.
  • Capacity planning, performance management ( storage and backup )
  • Execute FC zoning for development and production storage volumes.
  • Assist end users in troubleshooting/problem resolution
  • Install and configure NetBackup software on Windows, UNIX or Linux systems.
  • Provide architecture as well as performance recommendations to DBAs and Ops.
  • Conduct bottleneck evaluation to identify performance issues ( storage and backup systems)
  • Collaborate with DBA as well as Ops to assure optimal storage usage.
  • Apply best practices where possible or engineer new best practices as appropriate.
  • Performance monitoring (OS, CPU, Memory, Network and Disk)
  • Ensure server security compliance conforming to corporate security requirements.
  • Coordinate and/or perform tasks in change management windows
  • Update and maintain the allocated Incident / Problem / Change control tickets in line with the Customer processes and procedures.
  • Maintain an awareness of dependencies off all infrastructure.

 

Essential Qualifications

  • IT Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Systems Analysis, Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in architectural design of servers and associate subsystems including operating systems, storage, backups, services, monitoring and alerting
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the installation, upgrades, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and security of server operating systems
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in evaluating, customizing and diagnosing server operating system software in a complex and heterogeneous environment
  • Strong networking and internet technology knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, firewall and load balancing concepts)
  • Must have strong system administration knowledge/experience.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Hands on experience with HP IBM HDS Brocade hardware, Veritas software.
  • Knowledge of VMWARE, Windows OS, Linux OS, and Unix OS
  • Effective oral/written communication skills
  • Strong experience in the hosting and datacenter operation industries
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Ability to travel if required.

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
