As part of our team, you'll be driving our Data as a Service (DaaS) transformation, creating a powerful Bell Cloud Data Mesh that enables seamless sharing of data across the enterprise.
You'll work in a DevOps mode, leading development, engineering and operations to create a reliable and scalable data framework across the company. Your work will be critical to our operations, ensuring our development roadmap aligns with evolving business needs.
Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of our next-generation hybrid data mesh architecture. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and experience integrating on-premises data sources, particularly Hadoop. You will play a critical role in defining and implementing our data strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security across our hybrid environment. This is a leadership role requiring collaboration with various teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of a hybrid data mesh architecture, integrating onpremises Hadoop infrastructure with GCP services.
- Define and implement data governance strategies, including data cataloging and metadata management within the data mesh framework.
- Design and implement ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipelines using GCP services like Dataflow, Dataproc, and Cloud Storage, integrating with on-premise Hadoop data sources.
- Champion domain-driven design principles to ensure data ownership and autonomy within the data mesh.
- Design and implement a composable architecture, allowing for flexibility and scalability in data processing and access.
- Develop and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, specifications, and standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and engineers.
- Define project scope, plans, and deliverables, including cost and timelines, for medium to large-scale data initiatives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure the security and compliance of data assets across the hybrid environment.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in cloud-native technologies and data architecture best practices.
- Assist in pushing data from on-premise Hadoop clusters to the cloud leveraging appropriate ETL/ELT technologies and maintaining data integrity.
Critical Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with a strong focus on hybrid cloud environments.
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing data mesh architectures.
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Dataflow, Dataproc, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Catalog.
- Proven experience with ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) pipeline development and optimization.
- Deep understanding of data modeling (logical and physical), including relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Experience with data cataloging and metadata management tools.
- Strong understanding of domain-driven design principles and their application in data architecture.
- Experience with designing and implementing composable architectures.
- Experience with on-premises Hadoop environments (e.g., HDFS, Hive, Spark) and migrating data to the cloud.
- Experience with one or more Architecture & Service Delivery Frameworks (TOGAF, eTOM, ITIL, CoBiT, etc.).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Experience with data virtualization technologies.
- Experience with data governance and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Certifications related to GCP or data architecture.
