In Agile, the Scrum Master cares about the team functionality. Scrum Master is responsible for monitoring the scrum processes and scrum meetings. He increases his team efficiency, motivates his team, pivots, argues for changes that will ensure quality and timeliness. He is responsible for establishing an environment where the team can be effective by supporting them and protecting them from outside interruptions and distractions while removing impediments. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as scrum master for one or more teams by providing support and servant style leadership and by integrating Agile Scrum principles into team practices
  • Facilitating agile ceremonies including daily standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint retrospective and sprint demos
  • Guiding the team and organisation on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers
  • Guiding the team on how to get the most of out self-organisation
  • Guiding the team on self-organising to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks
  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation
  • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right person to remove the impediment
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assisting with internal and external communications, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner if needed, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Collaborating with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches internally to share findings, best practices and resources to help the organization mature in their agile journey

 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Scrum Master Certification (CSM) or equivalent 
  • SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks would be an asset
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile work environment working with SCRUM methodology ideally in software delivery and/or digital media
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach(example: numerous Burndown technologies, various Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
  • Awareness and experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • In Depth Experience with Atlassian suite including Jira and Confluence
  • Strong technical understanding and knowledge of web and software development technologies
  • Experience with teams already working on Continuous Integration and Continuous delivery is an asset
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) is an asset
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
