About Bell Real Estate Services:

The Real Estate Services group is part of the Corporate Services division of Bell Canada, and manages the real estate portfolio for BCE and its subsidiaries. Our mandate is to provide all Bell Canada and BCE employees with efficient and dynamic work environments while helping the company meet its business objectives by optimizing its real estate portfolio. We are also responsible for the reliability of electro-mechanical systems and general maintenance of building infrastructure, including employee workspace, telecommunications facilities and equipment storage.


Position Summary:

The selected candidate will be responsible for one or more buildings for which he will act as a technical planner of the building infrastructures. This includes, but is not limited to,

  • Analysis of equipment and critical infrastructure, maintenance performance
  • Assist building operations if required,
  • Contribute to the technical resolution of incidents,
  • To ensure compliance with the protocols and standards of the company and the industry
  • Provide consulting services on projects, on optimized investment planning,
  • Ensure systems are upgraded in accordance with industry best practices and manufacturer's recommendations and applicable company standards to prevent or quickly resolve system failures and thereby avoid interruptions and loss of service.


The position holder is a specialist in building mechanics with expertise or very good knowledge in the following areas:

  • Alimentation sans coupure (UPS)
  • Groupes électrogènes,
  • Distribution électrique commerciale ou industrielle,
  • Data Center environment
  • Thermodynamic
  • Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning
  • Plumbing,
  • Fire detection and suppression systems
  • Building controls (DDC, BAS)
  • IoT & IIoT orientation
  • Script programming (API) and database management


Tasks and Activities:

The Building Systems Specialist - Systems Installation Planning will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Define study frameworks and carry out their respective analyzes in order to establish intervention plans aimed at meeting a growth need or minimizing an operational risk
  • Define the technical scope of different preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Evaluate the impact of implementing these programs
  • Provide technical engineering support to project managers for technical or complex projects
  • Define the technical and functional programs as well as the engineering standards of the company, for the realization of mechanical projects aimed mainly at ensuring the reliability of the customer's telecommunications network and to meet growth needs.
  • Complete the realization of design guide or integrated solutions with our partners (suppliers and engineering firm)
  • Collaborate in the review of specific methods and procedures related to performing high-risk work.
  • Identify risks and good operational methods
  • Act as an expert in the management of the required mechanical infrastructures and in the establishment of the company's strategies
  • Collaborate in the commissioning of critical equipment supporting the production systems mentioned in the job description.
  • Work with equipment manufacturers, contractors and consultants, both in the factory and on the job site, to formalize the performance and proper functioning of critical equipment and systems delivered
  • Participate in the program of technical and regulatory compliance related to sound and atmospheric emissions and oil installations
  • Develop and implement embedded IIoT solutions to optimize the interface of the different system layers and maximize the use of existing infrastructures
  • Virtualize the concepts of capacity and redundancy to promote resilience
  • Model predictive analysis and learning scripts


In addition, the candidate will be required to work on the development of special projects to integrate new connectivity and remote access technologies for infrastructure elements. The intention is to visualize certain parts of our infrastructure in order to increase the visibility and the predictability of these and to interact with our products


Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Electrical or mechanical engineer / technologist / building with building expertise.
  • Certification (electricity or building mechanics), an asset.
  • At least five years of experience in critical facility management.
  • Problem solving skills. Attention to detail and processes.
  • IT skills: Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Skills in time management and communication (verbal and written).
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate results-oriented mobilizing leadership.
  • Knowledge of Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMEA).
  • Dynamic and able to work in a team.
  • Available for occasional commuting.


Can be considered an asset:

  • Member of the Order of Engineers
  • Knowledge of "TIER" certifications of the "up time institute"
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) certifications
  • NFPA 72 & 76
  • Knowledge of critical equipment commissioning practices
  • Knowledge of good practices in building with a critical mission
  • Good multidisciplinary knowledge (electrical equipment).



Bilingualism is required (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
