Reporting to the Director of Cloud, Centre of Excellence, Platforms & Technology Strategy, you thrive in thinking outside of the box, are in tune with the latest cloud, security, and DevOps trends. You will develop technological strategies and execution plans that create differentiated value through fostering strong relationships with cross-functional teams. You will interlock across business and organizational boundaries to develop world-class technological ecosystems.
The Senior Manager, Public Cloud Platforms, is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic and technical direction of our public cloud architecture. This visionary leader will drive digital transformation, optimize cloud infrastructure, and ensure seamless integration across diverse cloud environments, including public, private, and on-premises clouds.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Cloud Vision & Roadmap Development: Collaborate with the product owner and the team to define and articulate a clear, multi-cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) strategy that aligns with organizational goals, outlining the future state of cloud infrastructure and services.
- Team Leadership & Talent Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of skilled cloud architects and developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Technical Architecture & Governance Oversight: Provide guidance on cloud architecture best practices, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation Leadership: Champion the adoption and mastery of tools like Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management, and Python for scripting and automation, ensuring robust CI/CD pipelines via Git.
- Security & Compliance Assurance: Lead the implementation and enforcement of comprehensive security controls across cloud environments.
- Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Management: Facilitate seamless integration and collaboration with other internal teams, ensuring cloud products and services meet their needs and align with broader company objectives.
- Complex Problem Solving & Innovation: Drive the resolution of intricate challenges related to asset ownership, security considerations, and organizational alignment, fostering an environment that encourages innovative solutions.
- Cloud Cost Management & Optimization: Work with the FinOps teams to develop and implement strategies for effective cloud resource allocation, monitoring, and continuous cost optimization across AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Communication & Reporting: Effectively communicate technical strategies, project progress, risks, and achievements to executive leadership, stakeholders, and the wider organization.
Critical Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, IT services, or related disciplines, with at least 4 years of leadership experience.
- Knowledge of CI/CD & DevOps practices for automated deployment and management as well as terraform for declarative infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Understanding of AI concepts and the different AI cloud services.
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud security principles, compliance frameworks, identity and access management (IAM), network security, and vulnerability management across multi-cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and grow high-performing teams of cloud architects and developers. Experience in hiring, performance management, and fostering a collaborative culture.
- Capability to define and execute cloud strategy, aligning technology roadmaps with business objectives and addressing complex challenges such as asset ownership and cross-functional alignment.
- Experience managing complex cloud initiatives, ensuring successful delivery within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal teams, leadership, and stakeholders across the organization.
- Proven track record of resolving intricate technical and organizational challenges related to cloud adoption, security, and operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant professional certifications from cloud providers or IaC tools
- Bilingualism is required (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
