The Real Estate Services group is located in the Corporate Services division of Bell Canada, and manages the real estate portfolio of BCE and its subsidiaries. Our mandate is to provide all Bell Canada and BCE employees with efficient and dynamic work environments while helping the company meet its business objectives by optimizing its real estate portfolio. We are also responsible for the reliability of electro-mechanical systems and general maintenance of building infrastructure, including employee workspace, telecommunications facilities and equipment storage.
We are currently seeking a Facility Technician to join our team at the Building operation center and be responsible for the monitoring for the Bell Canada Building.
Main Job Duties / Accountabilities include
- Ensure zero network failures through a prudent maintenance and operating program
- Analyze and troubleshoot the building automated systems alarms through the DDC platforms
- Read DDC programming in order to be able to ensure quality controls on the ongoing projects
- Open communication bridges with the emergency duty managers during a crisis and provide technical information to the upper management
- Assist in the commissioning of new projects and provides reports to the project manager
- Ensure the monitoring of all Bell Canada centralized buildings and take action on the fail unit or systems that could lead to potential loss of cooling or loss of power problems
- Assure communication with all the upper management regarding threats related to the HVAC
- Assist with procedures including Emergency Operations Procedures (EOP), Health and Safety, crisis simulations, and other issues related to buildings
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Act as a team player with a focus on customer satisfaction
- Work autonomously with minimal supervision
- Organize and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
Essential Qualifications / Skills
- Candidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have;
- A college diploma in Building System Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience
- Candidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have;
- A college diploma in Building System Engineering Technology, or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of a high school diploma
- Knowledge of English and French required
- In the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
- Intermediate knowledge in HVAC (heating, ventilation & air conditioning)
- Intermediate knowledge in building automation
- Intermediate knowledge on troubleshooting (detail and process oriented)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple issues at the same time
- Ability to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressure
- Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
Working Conditions
This is a 24/7 operation. The shifts are generally 8 and 12 hours.
The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority), to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed. Available and flexible to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as needed.
Note that many working conditions are subject to terms outlined in the collective agreement.
