Position Description:

The Video Network team is responsible for the development of new video services and the operations of Bell’s existing video services.  The team is responsible for the acquisition, management and delivery of video and video metadata for our customers.  The team develops and manages services on various technologies including: Cloud Computing, Unix, Windows, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), Fibre to the Home (FTTH), Satellite television, broadband home, Over the top (OTT), and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV).


Our objective of ongoing service improvements while implementing industry best practices will meet the need for increased creativity, operational efficiency and workforce mobilization. While becoming more efficient, the Video Network team is agile and responsive to the constant evolution of technologies in the video marketplace and day to day customer requirements. Key Responsibilities:

The Video Network team is responsible for all aspects of video services including assessment, architecture, design, installation, integration, testing, deployment and operations of the video platforms across Bell Canada. 

  • Provide technical and managerial skills in leading an implementation from development to production readiness
  • Take ownership in driving resolution to major or chronic problems.
  • Ensure design efforts align to a corporate strategy that optimizes operational efficiency.
  • Develop strategies, standards, and processes that facilitate introduction of new application technologies.
  • Coordinate training and awareness for all staff having daily responsibility for elements within IPTV acting as a technical coach to extended teams.
  • Provide direction to senior management and teams on design solutions, infrastructure evolution and problem management.
  • Assess impacts of new solutions initiatives/growth within the IPTV network elements.
  • Develop tools (scripts/programs) for automating routine activities.
  • Overall solution testing authority for IPTV network initiatives.
  • Research industry trends, best practices and new technologies that will provide operational insights to internal teams, focusing on continuous improvement of the customer experience

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of OTT technologies (Content delivery networks, and Origin streaming servers)
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMWare 5.x, Hyper-V, Open Stack)
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux, UNIX, Windows OS administration experience
  • Strong knowledge of networking and security concepts
  • Strong working knowledge of SAN storage systems.
  • Web development experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with hardware and software integration, verification testing, quality assurance and system testing
  • General understanding of video delivery technology including encoding, encryption, streaming (unicast/multicast) and decoding
  • LAN, SAN & WAN technologies including xDSL, Fiber optic, TCP/IP, Routing protocols
  • Knowledge of Firewalls, Proxies, DNS, DHCP, AAA & Home Networking devices
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot to find root cause when experiencing anomalous behaviour
  • Scripting/Programming skills: PowerShell, .NET Framework, VBScript, T-SQL, bash, perl
  • System administration using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager & System Center Configuration Manager
  • Familiarity with Intrusion Detection concepts, anti-virus management in large networks
  • Familiarity with Disaster Recovery concepts, online backups, capacity management, remote access technologies
  • Bilingual (English-French)


Working Conditions:

  • Normal Business hours are Monday – Friday 37.5 hours a week
  • May be required to provide 24x7 support on a rotational basis with other team members
  • Work start and finish times are flexible.
  • Overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines.
  • Some overnight work may be required to implement into production




Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
