Be a critical part of our Customer Operations team, which delivers world-class service and maintains thriving relationships with Bell customers. Name and description of hiring department
The Quebec Field Operations team in Bell Canada is responsible for maintaining the outside cable network providing voice and data services to customers in the consumer Bell Business markets.
Main Job Duties / Accountabilities include
- Maintain / repair DMS cards and for the repair power units
- Configure measurement equipment used by technicians while ensuring this equipment is properly calibrated
- Resolve any problems related to the repair of test sets and electronic systems
- Organize and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment
- Keep up with emerging telecommunication technology
Prerequisite
- Candidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:
- A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
- Candidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:
- A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of a high school diploma
- Knowledge of English and French is required, in the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders
- Possess good manual dexterity and able to work with different hand tools
- Capable to lift and carry heavy weight
- Capable of differentiating coloured wires (colour code)
- Capable to safely execute all functions/aspects of the job and meet all safety requirements associated with the work equipment
Essential Qualifications / Skills
- Intermediate knowledge of the following products: voice network, point-to-point service, analog and digital networks, electronic technologies, routers and switches
- Ability to make repairs on integrated circuits without electronic diagrams
- Intermediate knowledge of measurement devices used in telecoms
- Intermediate knowledge of BGA (Ball Grid Array) soldering techniques
- Excellent knowledge of components used in test sets
- Ability to repair power supply equipment
- Ability to work on complex electronic cards
- Knowledge of basic principles of fibre optic
- Intermediate knowledge of the computer and electronics environment in communications (ADSL, VDSL, fibre optics)
- Intermediate knowledge of DS0-DS1 technology
- Intermediate knowledge of data transmission (analog, digital, modems)
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to work autonomously and with minimal supervision
- Ability to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressure
- Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities
Working Conditions
- The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority), to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed
- Available and flexible to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as needed
Note that many working conditions are subject to terms outlined in the collective agreement
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
