Position Description:

The BRS Atlantic IT team is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Architect to join our team.  The candidate will become a key member of our BRS Atlantic IT Delivery team, accountable for leading the development of end-to-end conceptual solutions throughout the delivery lifecycle to support business and IT driven opportunities. 


The prime responsibility of this position will be to develop conceptual solutions, which align with the target architecture and take into consideration business objectives such as time to market and automation stability.  This position will understand and predict how all the functional components will fit together and identify potential issues and risks early on to enable mitigation strategies to be developed. They will then lead the technical delivery teams as the solution is built and implemented.  The successful candidate will have advanced communication and negotiation skills, as well as an innate ability to simplify complex technology concepts.


Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Architect on the Atlantic BRS IT team is a pivotal role within the delivery team that carries the accountability for end-to-end IT solutions, which are the foundation from which all IT projects are delivered.   


Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing senior technical/architectural leadership, and recommending IT solution alternatives that strike a balance between meeting business needs at a viable cost and ensuring IT implementation feasibility. 
  • Building the end-to-end conceptual solution and completing assessments based on a BRD, CR, or work request containing business requirements
  • Provide subject matter expertise to business primes and internal IT teams
  • Ability to execute against multiple projects and excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
  • Provide technology leadership, direction and guidance to the business and IT Delivery teams throughout delivery lifecycle.
  • Ensure alignment with relevant strategic and tactical architectures. 
  • For domain assets, proactively evaluate sustainability, stability, security compliance, and currency of applications and their supporting infrastructure
  • Participate in the Integrated Architecture Practice via Practice meetings, knowledge transfers, presentations and feedback to the Integrated Architecture team.
  • Support the development of the capital and opex outlooks during the annual capital planning cycle
  • Ability to navigate difficult situations through relationship building and influencing others
  • Ability to provide solution options and alternatives to meet business requirements and determine solution direction to undertake; determine creative solution ideas to meet timelines, cost and solution constraints


Critical Competencies 

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, software engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in developing Solution Architectures
  • Strong analytical skills to identify issues on a timely basis
  • Ability to communicate highly complex matters and adapt to the target audience and forum.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills to clearly express and communicate concepts, designs and proposals.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on collaborative problem solving and solutions delivery. 
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management, peers and junior staff, both internally and externally, with business and professional skills in Information Technology.
  • Ability to use a diplomatic approach to work with high level stakeholders and introduction of changes in the business
  • Ability to deal with a broad range of legacy and newer technologies
  • Ability to conceptualize and think abstractly, and work and manage in a technically complex environment.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, uncertainty and changing priorities
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities and manage sponsor expectations
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Solid business acumen, Strong customer focus
  • Demonstrated ability to learn; both complex technical concepts and end to end business  processes


Preferred Competencies

  • Experience in the Telecommunications industry
  • Extensive experience in the application development cycle (from requirements gathering, application design through implementation)
  • Experience working in a virtual team and leading a team of technical resources throughout build and implementation
  • Technical knowledge in the areas of J2EE/Java, Oracle, web services, web application development
  • Knowledge of Bell’s residential services products

  • Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams, handling multiple projects and aggressive timelines
  • Fast paced, changing working environment, interfacing with a myriad of stakeholders
  • Available  to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines
  • Full time teleworking not an option


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
