Job summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall management, administration and support to Bell Media web serving infrastructure, including systems, application softwares, services, databases and security



  • Manage, maintain and monitor all web servers for production, QA and development environments. Environment mainly consists of Windows and Linux (CentOS / Ubuntu / Redhat) running on VMware platform
  • Setup new servers (VMs), configure guest, O/S, services and settings in accordance with operational requirements
  • Install, configure and optimize all web application such as IIS, Apache, Tomcat and Nginx
  • Setup, configure, administer and secure database servers and clusters (MySQL/MS-SQL) Perform required performance tuning
  • Manage DNS records and services
  • Assist web development teams with web applications and databases load testing
  • Manage and maintain security policies relating to systems and applications
  • Ensure that appropriate backup strategies of all systems and databases are properly managed, monitored and tested in order to minimize downtime and to reduce retrieval times to a minimum
  • Work with hardware and software suppliers regarding support contracts and technical issues
  • Monitor application and host performance, carry out hardware upgrades and resources optimization
  • Configure and manage Load Balancer and Web Application Firewall services
  • Maintain proper documentation on systems and procedures
  • Ensure proper use of project/ticket management tools



  • 2+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Very solid experience with Windows Server and Linux operating system; Redhat, CentOS and Ubuntu
  • Good experience working with automation tools such as satellite, ansible and puppet
  • Extensive knowledge of IIS, Nginx and Apache applications
  • Good knowledge of Word Press framework
  • Experience with database creation and administration with MySQL/MS-SQL along with strong skills in optimization
  • Experience with VMware vCenter / VSphere / ESXi / Vrealize environment and applications
  • TCP/IP and network fundamentals
  • Good knowledge of server management tools and monitoring tools (e.g. Solarwinds, Nagios, LDAP/AD)
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Good general knowledge of technologies and web tools (PHP, JavaScript, XML, JSON, CSS, HTML…)
  • Good problem-solving skills, open-mindness, willing to explore new technologies
  • Scripting language literacy (e.g. BASH/PERL/PYTHON)
  • Proficient in high traffic web environment (Load Balancing/Caching) and troubleshooting website delivery issues
  • Experience in working with content delivery networks (CDNs), Akamai or Limelight preferred
  • Experience with Openstack and Docker an asset
  • Strong Team player


Additional information:

  • Job status: Regular – Full Time
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, daytime schedule. This position also requires sharing on-call duties for technical support in order to ensure site availibility 24/7
  • Job location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Scarborough, Ontario
