Position Overview:

Bell Canada is seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel, Litigation to oversee and manage litigation matters, regulatory disputes, and risk mitigation strategies. This role involves working closely with internal stakeholders, external counsel, and regulatory bodies to protect the company’s interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage litigation team as well as the cases, including commercial, regulatory, and various other disputes.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to business units on litigation risks and compliance matters.
  • Oversee external counsel and ensure cost-effective legal representation by managing detailed monthly budgets.
  • Minimize legal spend, including doing and managing the running of litigation files in-house
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Represent Bell Canada in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings as needed.
  • Support corporate governance initiatives and regulatory filings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Law degree (LL.B or J.D.) from a recognized institution.
  • Bar Admission: Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario (or applicable province).
  • Experience: Minimum 10+ years of litigation experience, preferably in corporate or telecommunications law.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian regulatory frameworks and litigation procedures across Canada.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and work in a fast-paced environment.

Strong knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
