Job Description
Position: Production Automation Studio, Bell Media, Unifor 723M, One year contract
Location: 299 Queen Street, Toronto Ontario, M5Z 2Z5
Salary: 723m, Group J, Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40hrs, In Office Profile
Responsibilities
- Installs, powers, checks and operates the cameras in the studio as well as all the equipment made available
- Adjust and calibrate cameras according to production requirements
- Responsible for storage, upkeep and moving of all studio related gear
- Makes the connections for the needs of the platforms
- Manages cables, monitor and other equipment keeping safety of other crew, talent and audience in mind, and as per technical requirements of the production
- Maintains and sets up sets (minor repairs, cleaning) as well as storing them
- CCU control for all monitors being used in a production
- CCU control for cameras and remote feeds for a production on their own, and relative to each other
- Acts as a lighting assistant when setting up the lighting required for productions
- Assists the audio op with testing of microphones and IFB along with placement
- Mics up talent and guests on a show and checks IFB for communication
- Troubleshoots problems with mics and IFBs as needed
- Responsible for storage, upkeep and moving of all audio related gear
- Travels for remote shoots as needed
- Helps with camera, CCU, audio, lighting set up and connections for remote shoots
- Troubleshoots issues experienced during remote shoots
- Reports and follows up on any issues via email or provided system
- Documents all information relevant to a production and forwards it to all team members via provided system
- Guides and helps guests and provides the necessary cues
- Provides training to other operators, as and when required
- Duties as assigned
Critical Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in live media production
- A thorough knowledge of studio broadcast cameras & related video technologies
- A basic understanding of video signal flow and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems
- Experienced with RF technology used for audio production
- Ability to work well in a crew environment and have strong interpersonal skills
- Post Secondary education in Television Broadcast with previous experience in technical operations with an emphasis on camera and audio is an asset
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
