About Us:

Bell Canada’s legal team is tasked with providing support to Bell Canada and its affiliated companies.  Bell is seeking a commercial lawyer to join its legal team. The legal team works in close partnership with the business as trusted advisors in a fast paced environment. As a member of the commercial legal team you will work with our business partners in a variety of sales, procurement, and joint go-to-market partnership transactions including deal negotiation and agreement drafting. 

The Role:

Our team is looking for a business-minded lawyer with experience in consumer protection, advertising, marketing, pricing and product matters. Relevant experience in telecommunications, information technology or related industries, as well as bilingualism, would be considered strong assets. Working from our Toronto or Montreal office, you will provide practical, risk-based advice to Bell Canada and its affiliated companies across all lines of consumer business on compliance with Canadian consumer and advertising law and related regulatory frameworks. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Consumer Markets and Advertising, you will join a strong, collaborative team that values good judgement, creativity, decisiveness and a practical approach to risk. As a trusted and strategic advisor to the business, you will develop a close understanding of Bell's products, services and business needs and play a pivotal role in shaping and enabling compliant, consumer-facing initiatives.
 

Qualifications/ Competencies:

You will provide effective and consistent legal support across a broad range of matters, including: advising on a wide range of advertising, marketing and consumer-facing initiatives; supporting the development and launch of new products, services and commercial offers; drafting consumer-facing documents; and monitoring and advising on legal and regulatory developments relevant to consumer markets and advertising.
 
•    Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario or the Barreau du Québec
•    A minimum of 6 years of legal experience, gained in-house and/or in private practice, with a strong focus on consumer protection and/or advertising law
•    Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality legal advice in a fast-paced, commercial environment
•    Decisive and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and risk assessment skills
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and perform effectively under pressure
•    Confident and capable of engaging with and advising senior management
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical guidance
•    A collaborative team player who genuinely enjoys working closely with colleagues, shares knowledge generously and helps foster the supportive, high-performing team culture that defines our group
•    Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
