Summary
The Senior Manager, Strategic Planning – Sports, is responsible for driving strategic planning, revenue and audience growth, fan engagement, and overall content performance across Bell Media’s sports portfolio. The role collaborates closely with senior leadership, partners, and cross-functional teams to strengthen Bell Media’s position in the Canadian sports landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Sports Strategy Development
- Develop and support business cases that evaluate new sports initiatives, audience opportunities, and investment decisions
- Prepare strategic presentations and insights for senior leadership
- Identify opportunities to strengthen Bell Media’s sports brand, content strategy, and fan engagement initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Content, Programming, Production, Sales, Digital, Marketing, and Insights to align sports strategies with organizational objectives
- Partner with Sales on integrated sponsorship and revenue-growth opportunities that enhance advertiser value
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Maintain relationships with leagues, teams, agencies, and internal stakeholders
- Represent Sports Strategy in leadership meetings, strategic planning discussions, and cross-functional forums
Analytics & Reporting
- Use audience, engagement, and financial data to inform strategy
- Translate complex insights into simple, clear narratives
Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Analyze performance of sports projects and strategic initiatives
- Evaluate effectiveness of sports content and fan engagement initiatives
- Recommend strategic adjustments based on performance insights
Critical Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the sports landscape and fan behaviours
- Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate industry trends
- Deep analytical skills related to audience insights and performance drivers
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Financial planning and strategic analysis capabilities
- Ability to evaluate and translate insights into clear strategic recommendations
- Strong understanding of the Canadian sports media and media industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sports Management, Economics, Media, or related field; MBA preferred
- 5–7 years in sports strategy, sports media, consulting, partnerships, or strategic planning
- Proven ability to develop clear, compelling executive-level presentations that distill complex information into strategic insights and recommendations
- Experience with audience measurement, sports business analytics, or media strategy
- Proficiency with analytical tools (Excel, SQL, similar)
- Knowledge of the Canadian sports media ecosystem
- Bilingual (French & English) preferred
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
