• Working as part of the News Team, this Digital Media Journalist will be responsible for originating, writing, interviewing, and producing content for all digital platforms while adhering to CTV digital standards.
• In collaboration with the News Director, Managing Editor, and Sr. Producer, plan and support the daily digital news cycle.
• Work hand-in-hand with the Digital Distribution Producer to move articles and video to web & support YouTube strategy.
• Work with the Sr. Producer & reporters to facilitate the timely uploading of news stories.
• Detail Oriented. Must pay close attention to legal, ethical, and accuracy.
• Participate in morning news meetings.
• Develop original enterprise news stories when possible.
• Participate in social networking of news stories.
• Gather stories of the day as assigned by the News Director & Managing Editor, including interviewing, editing, writing
• Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities
• Proven background in writing for web
• ENG Shooting experience & skills with digital cameras
• Strong editorial sense and news judgement.
• Journalism level education a definite asset.
• Must be knowledgeable about social networking and its potential for engaging audiences.
• Proven track record with content management systems, social media platforms, digital analytics, non-linear video editing and basic HTML.
• Experience with iNews, Avid, Adobe Premier a definite asset.
• Self-initiative and ability to work independently under pressure of deadlines.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence
• Keen interest in and understanding of current events and local community issues.
Location: CTV2 Vancouver Island, Esquimalt, BC
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
