Summary
Position: Digital Reporter, Bell Media, CTV News Vancouver
Job Status: Regular -Full Time
Location: Vancouver, B.C. (can work remotely but must be available to come into the office when needed)
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
Role
CTV News Vancouver is seeking an experienced Digital Reporter to join our dynamic team in the heart of downtown Vancouver in a full-time position. The successful application will bolster our weekend coverage, working Friday through Tuesday, and must be able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom that covers breaking news.
Key Responsibilities
- Write and package stories for the CTV News Vancouver website
- Pitch original story ideas, cover breaking news as it happens and occasionally adapt TV stories into digital articles
- Provide peer copyediting for fellow reporters
- Send time-sensitive breaking news emails and app push alerts
- Publish digital video content prepared by our editing team to our website
Critical Qualifications
- Journalism degree or diploma
- Relevant digital reporting and copyediting experience, with a focus on accuracy and a strong grasp of CP Style
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Exceptional team player
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of B.C. news and current affairs
- Experience working with content management systems
- Keen ability to think visually and apply graphic design elements to storytelling
- Proficiency with social media apps and understanding of social trends
- Awareness of emerging mobile news standards
- Enthusiasm for new technology and storytelling techniques
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
