Position:        Writer, Reporter, Bell Media

Status:           Regular - Part time

Location:       CTV – Kitchener, Ontario

Salary:           Group V- Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience 

Hours of Work: Overtime as required based on operational needs. Will include working shift work including evenings and weekends.

  • Contribute to CTV News programs by writing news stories, updating the website, voice over and intros to reports
  • Monitor news feeds for appropriate video and news stories to be used in newscasts
  • Search computer files and videotapes for footage
  • Line up the news stories for the newscasts, ensure all information is listed on scripts for anchors and production, and distribute copies
  • Work with editors to determine what can be edited out or modified in a story when necessary
  • May act as a back-up producer or assignment editor for all newscasts
  • Must be able to gather, write and voice news reports
  • Update News stories on the CTV website
  • Other duties as required



  • Extensive experience as a news broadcast writer
  • Broad News media experience and assignment desk experience preferred
  • Post Secondary education in Journalism /Broadcasting
  • In-depth knowledge of local (KW region), national and international news and current affairs
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines of several simultaneous duties, while maintaining focus and composure
  • Proven ability to marry picture and sound
  • Excellent communication skills- both oral and written
  • Ability to work in a team and be self motivated
  • Practical working knowledge of iNews and Microsoft office systems
  • Good understanding of journalistic ethics is essential
