Reporting to the Vice President, Strategic Sales, you will play a critical role in architecting and executing Bell Media Sales long-term sales strategy. As the Director, Client Strategy, you will have a seat at the executive table of the sales team and influence how we execute on our strategic priority of expanding media leadership.

 

The role

Working in conjunction with the VP Strategic Sales, you will implement and iterate a sales strategy that will lead to better, deeper relationships with key advertisers across Bell Media in order to help them achieve their long-term business objectives through more effective use of our platforms. 

 

The Director, Client Strategy will play a central role in developing the overall Sales Strategy for Bell Media Sales.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build upon the momentum built by Bell Media Sales (BMS) to further establish our lead in this area
  • Help formulate BMS cross-platform strategy forward going forward especially focusing on wider opportunities in the ‘Smart Data’ space offered up by vertical integration possibilities across the broader BCE
  • Lead and develop the Client Strategy (CS) team focusing especially on strong pace and execution of designated ‘Smart Data’ client projects and use these projects as a lever to maintain and grow spend from these advertisers across our platforms
  • Develop strong personal relationships with key advertisers and key agency staff, focusing on planning and strategy teams within five identified agency groups and ensure that the team are similarly developing these relationships
  • Work as part of the senior management team led by the President, BMS, to ensure effective management of our overall business
  • Work on developing new and incremental business for our Brand Partnerships team working closely with the VP, Brand Partnerships
  • Work with key stakeholders across BMS, BCE and across the wider media landscape to develop new opportunities
  • Work especially closely with the Strategic Insights team at BMS, the mobility teams and the Business Insights team within the Customer Experience group
  • To work with the VP, Marketing BMS, to develop and implement an effective trade marketing strategy to enable us to meet our strategic goals
  • To focus on building a strong external presence through presentations, interviews, appearances on panels and at industry events etc.

 

Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in sales or marketing
  • Must be a dynamic leader and strong team player and have the ability to be flexible and adaptive to the ever-changing and competitive media/entertainment landscape
  • Experience in a leadership role in a media company, agency or client-side – ideally with brand(s)
  • A strong and proven background in sales and new product development
  • Exceptional leadership skills; able to effectively lead a team and collaborate with internal and external groups
  • Extensive knowledge of the marketing and especially the data landscape, insight into shifting media consumption behaviors and how to identify/create opportunities
  • A track record of success developing creative and innovative strategic plans, accompanied with a thirst to be involved with these, internally and externally at the highest levels
  • A high degree of comfort working across diverse teams with different skill sets
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of financial/budget processes
