Position: Creative Writer/Producer (TV & Radio) – One year contract (parental leave replacement)

Location: Victoria, British Columbia

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.



Bell Media is seeking a temporary full-time Creative Writer/Producer to join our team at CTV Vancouver Island, 107.3 Kool FM and CFAX 1070 in Victoria, BC for one year starting in late August 2017. This is a rare opportunity to get your foot in the door of one of the most respected and successful media companies in the country. Reporting to the Creative Director, the successful applicant will hit the ground running in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, client-focused environment and join our Creative Department in producing television commercials and writing radio commercials for a range of local advertisers.



  • Conceptualize, write, shoot and edit entertaining and effective TV commercials within tight departmental deadlines
  • Organize/produce all aspects of commercial shoots including sourcing actors, props, locations, etc.
  • Write entertaining/effective radio commercials within tight departmental deadlines.
  • Carry an individual client list that is prioritized and organized on a daily basis according to workload
  • Meet, converse and correspond with clients on a regular basis regarding commercial content, approvals and marketing directions
  • Assign audio numbers and enter traffic instructions into Wide Orbit (for radio) on a regular basis prior to the traffic deadline
  • Deliver and close caption TV commercials digitally to Master Control using internal systems
  • Submit TV commercials to Television Bureau of Canada/Advertising Standards Canada for approval
  • Work with the sales and production team on a daily basis to achieve the highest quality end product within the sales and production deadlines
  • Maintain a current knowledge of station, provincial and national advertising regulations.
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of community events, current events and popular culture



  • Degree or Diploma from a recognized Broadcast/Journalism Program or equivalent experience
  • At least one year experience writing, shooting and editing video content
  • Fluent videographer (Canon C100 knowledge an asset)
  • Fluent video editor (AVID knowledge an asset)
  • Proven to be a positive, creative, visual thinker
  • Proven to be a highly organized individual with strong attention-to-detail.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Wide Orbit knowledge an asset
  • Advertising and/or client service background an asset


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
