The Project Manager, Digital IT ensures that the POS project workstreams deliver on time, on budget and on spec. This role requires the ability to lead a technical custom application development program. The Project Manager, Digital IT will leverage structured project management techniques to effectively manage small to large-scale projects across multiple disciplines & have a knowledge of technologies, specifically within the realms of POS, payments, e-commerce, and integration – both custom & COTS solutions. This individual is highly self-driven and is able to ensure a high level of resolution of problem situations, and successful completion of project deliverables. This role requires interaction with a range of internal and external stakeholders, most often managing several moving project workstreams simultaneously.

 

Job duties / accountabilities:

  • Work collaboratively with existing PM and key team members to manage scope, schedule and deliverables for all project workstreams (eg.Sales and Returns, Repairs, Warranty, Inventory, Integration, Payments, etc.)
  • Contribute to larger team and effectively communicate across the organization. Develop concise and impactful executive communications and documents 
  • Manage project timelines & budgets. Ensure delivery team supports business needs and delivers scalable, reliable platform and enhancements ontime, on budget and with an eye toward iterative and rapid development. 
  • Create detailed project work plans from estimated scope of work and assign project plan tasks to team members
  • Apply Agile (scrum / kanban), System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and other project management methodologies to support successful delivery
  • Track and manage all project related issues such as defects, back-log lists, project status and provide in-depth status reports to management
  • Lead the team by example, getting hands-on driving design, and paying detailed attention to quality and time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Critical Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in project leadership, planning, POS and/or web commerce package implementation, knowledge of multiple technologies
  • Deep expertise in managing delivery with both in-house and outsourced development. Strong background in complex technical project delivery in a retail organization, ideally with POS, payments and integration experience
  • Solid understanding of multi channel/omni channel concepts and needs, strong understanding of physical goods retail
  • Keen eye for risk, with ability to foresee project risks and put in  mitigating steps, before risks become problems
  • Excellence in communication, written and verbal, to upper management and front line team alike
  • Professional consulting firm experience is a plus, or experience building a similar POS program / function with a large retailer. Strong vendor / partner management skills.
  • Experience in developing detailed schedules and work breakdown structures to support planning and delivery. Proven ability to track action against tasks and determine % completion / earned value for parts of workstream
  • Solid analysis and critical thinking skills, with the ability to calmly evaluate issues and situations and form unbiased judgement

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Use Microsoft Project, Excel project / resource management tools
  • 4- years college/university degree or equivalent
