Reporting to the Store Manager (SM), the Assistant Manager (AM) is the second in command and is responsible for assisting the SM in the overall management of a retail store.  The AM role is a development position that is part of  a continued growth pathway intended to lead to other leadership or specialist roles at The Source.  The objective is to maximize sales and profits through the effective management of people, inventory, expense control, and fixed assets by:

    • Achieving sales and quality targets; driving sales and providing outstanding customer service
    • Providing leadership and coaching to associates
    • Supervising and contributing to store operations and brand standards
    • Executing on all Source Initiatives



Key Responsibilities:

Achieving sales targets; driving sales, and providing outstanding customer service by:

    • Driving and contributing to the store’s overall achievement of targets for all product lines and services
    • Remaining abreast of  policies, procedures, product knowledge, operational requirements, and brand standards
    • Resolving customer concerns and exceeding customer expectations


Providing leadership and coaching to staff by:

    • Assisting the SM in managing the performance and the behavior of the Sales Associates  in alignment with the company standards
    • Assisting the SM in communicating with the Sales Associates the relevant changes regarding policies, procedures, product knowledge, operational requirements, and brand standards
    • Assisting in motivating the Sales Associates to actively participate and contribute to the team’s success
    • Assisting the SM with on-the–floor coaching in accordance with The Source  Service Model


Supervising and contributing to store operations and brand standards by:

    • Assisting the SM in ensuring the successful completion of operational tasks in accordance to relevant standards and best practices
  • Merchandising according to current visual, advertising, and promotional standards
  • Assisting in ensuring all Service Pride, asset protection, inventory and cash control procedures are followed
  • Verifying the accuracy of all in-store transactions including conducting invoice audits
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Adhering to the Neat Clean and Organized standards
  • Reporting store maintenance and repair issues


    • Proven sales, coaching, and training skills
    • Ability to analyze data and take appropriate actions
    • Attention to detail
    • Comfortable with connected technology including mobile devices, home automation, and associated media Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • One to three years of retail sales or customer service experience including people management experience
    • (Quebec only) Bilingualism in French and English


Working Conditions:

  • Flexible to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays based on business needs
  • Flexible to be relocated within a 50 km radius of original store of hire, based on business needs
  • May involve standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting and bending
