Position: Web Producer
Location: CTV Barrie
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Will include working evenings and weekends. Overtime as required.
Responsibilities
- CTV News Barrie is looking for a dynamic Digital Lead to drive our online presence
- You’ll be a writer/producer who thrives on breaking news and loves creating original, compelling content for digital platforms and CTV News programs
- Pitch, research, and write stories and headlines for our website and social media channels, ensuring everything meets CTV News best practices and editorial standards.’
- Stay ahead of breaking news and keep our site fresh, relevant, and engaging
- Maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality across all digital content—headlines, captions, videos, and more
- Dive into creative pagination, projects like contests, sales activations, maps, and data-driven journalism
- Monitor and publish wire stories with a focus on SEO, keywords, and shareability
- Manage multiple social media streams simultaneously to keep our audience connected
- Step in to produce newscasts when needed for CTV News Barrie
- Collaborate with reporters to ensure strong coverage of news and live events
- Contribute daily ideas to news planning and help shape our coverage
- Write and edit scripts, supervise edits, critique news material, and handle digital streams
- Work closely with news, sales, promotions, and creative teams to maintain a vibrant online presence in our community
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Exceptional command of the English language with the ability to craft accurate, engaging articles and headlines
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines—strong time management and multitasking skills are a must
- Proven news judgment, sharp copy-editing skills, and clear, concise writing ability
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver on time
- Strong communication skills, impeccable grammar, and attention to detail
- Experience in digital content design, development, and production
- Knowledge of publishing and troubleshooting on digital platforms
- Graphic design, basic html coding and pagination experience is an asset
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
