Position Description:

The successful candidate can be new to media or a seasoned veteran. We’re looking for someone that demonstrates great initiative, enjoys helping our clients with their creative messaging to our audience, is service-oriented, and has a hunger to help develop our clients’ businesses. The only requirement for this position is a track record of strong sales experience and the ability to drive within a designated sales territory—we can teach the media part!


Job Duties/Accountabilities:            

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of locally based advertisers to meet or exceed sales quotas with a primary focus on generating new business
  • Meet and exceed sales targets across radio, TV and digital media platforms
  • Provide quality customer service with a focus on client retention through regular, relevant and systematic contact with all active and potential clientele
  • Work in collaboration with management to assist in development of strategic integrated proposals
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive sales proposals which include appropriate research data
  • Attend and participate in Sales meetings, liaise effectively and build positive relationships with all Sales Support functions including Creative Services, Traffic and Accounting
  • Assist the station in maintaining and/or increasing its community presence by becoming actively involved in the community
  • Aid in the collection of overdue accounts, complete and submit all necessary paperwork, and other duties as required


Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • 3-5 years’ experience within media sales with radio specialization preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital and broadcast industry terms, standards and metrics is an asset
  • Experience in sourcing clients, networking and cold calling for new business required
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting and exceeding goals; proven ability to manage work independently
  • Strong presentation and negotiating skills, combined with ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under pressure of deadlines and last minute revisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire to succeed
  • Practical computer knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Applicant must possess a valid G Class driver’s license and a reliable vehicle—the ability to travel within our designated sales territory (Calgary region) is required




Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
