Video Journalist

CTV Calgary    (Calgary, Alberta)
Commensurate with experience
40 hours per week.  Shift work and overtime as required.


Reporting to the Director, News & Public Affairs, this multi-skilled and motivated team
player will be based in Calgary, Alberta and will be responsible for:

• Interviewing, writing, shooting, editing, producing and reporting, of local news stories. In addition to script writing for digital and posting video to the web.
 (some live reporting)
• Will have a proven ability to generate original story ideas and to complete the appropriate
 scripting for broadcast and the web, editing and production of the story to get to the first available platform.
• Producing editorial content for our website.
• Editorial decision making.
• Other related duties as assigned.



• Post Secondary education in Television Broadcasting or Broadcast Journalism, in combination with a minimum of 2 years proven expereince in broadcast reporting, digital writing and ENG Camera experience.
• Must possess excellent writing, camera, editing and research skills. Previous experience editing in the field is an asset.
• Must possess excellent editorial skills and have previous commendable experience in editing material for on air and website.
• Working knowledge of, and consistent previous experience using ENG Camera equipment and/or Atlas kit.
• Exhibit superior judgement.
• MUST have a proven track record of consistently being able to work under pressure with a demonstrated ability to react
 quickly and productively in a changing environment requiring immediate decision-making.
• MUST have ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment with emphasis on internal
 assistance and upholding professional standards.
• A valid driver’s licence and the ability to lift for continuous periods & carry 50 lbs, are required.
