Position:                    Writer, Producer, CTV Calgary, Bell Media, Unifor 899

Location:                   Calgary, Alberta   (CTV Calgary)

Salary:                       Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work:         40 hours a week. Overtime as required



This position plays a key role for our daily line-up and requires someone who is thorough and accurate. An excellent communicator with a sense of priority and very strong organization and leadership skills. He/she will have the ability to take initiative in a deadline driven environment and act on behalf of the Sr. Producer when needed.

  • Working closely with Producers, Video Journalists and studio personnel
  • Writing for newscasts and assist in the coordination of field staff
  • Researching, interviewing and desk-top editing as required
  • Adapting to rapidly changing programme situations
  • Assist with cast producing and other duties as assigned



  • Post-secondary education in television/broadcast production.
  • Demonstrated ability to write to pictures an asset, and proven experience in television writing essential
  • Good knowledge of industry practices and procedures regarding news production and writing and desk top editing. Previous producer experience would be preferred
  • Fundamental knowledge of Ross Overdrive would be considered a definite asset
  • Excellent research, analytical and communication skills
  • Very strong creative abilities and leadership skills
  • Strong editorial sense
  • Thoroughness, accuracy, a sense of priority
  • Ability to take initiative, responsibility as well as consult with the team                             
  • Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressure of on-air deadlines and corollary need to make immediate and sound decisions





Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
