Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Shift work and overtime as required

Reponsibilities

Working in the CTV Edmonton Newsroom this decisive, self-motivated, progressive thinking individual will apply measurable talent and leadership skills to perform the following duties:

 

  • Assigning staff and resources for the gathering and production of local news programming 
  • Identify and prioritize leading local news stories for television and digital
  • Proven ability to generate original story ideas
  • Actively participate in daily and long-term planning of news programming
  • Act as liaison with other television stations, networks and agencies for the purpose of sharing costs, facilities and personnel
  • Engage with newsroom staff and external stakeholders in a consistently respectful and positive manner
  • Consulting with Newsroom Mgmt, Producers, Anchors, Reporters, and other Newsroom staff to provide creative input to the production of story items, as well as scripting and report assembly
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large market in a Journalism role
  • Post-Secondary Education in Broadcasting, or Journalism
  • Proven knowledge of television production procedures, terminology and equipment capabilities
  • Previous experience which may include reporting, producing, shooting news and assigning
  • Excellent organization, coordination, concentration, leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to react quickly and proactively in a changing environment requiring immediate decision-making
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and work with minimal supervision
