Position: BROADCAST \ IT Technician, Halifax
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. May include working evenings and weekends.
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this multi-talented and motivated team player will be responsible for maintenance and installation of all broadcast equipment and IT systems, including, but not limited to:
Responsabilities
- Non-linear editing/playout systems
- Ross Overdrive and broadcast automation systems
- Video cameras, production switchers, routing systems etc.
- Broadcast RF Transmission and including UHF and VHF systems
- Graphic creation systems including applications
- Electronic News Gathering equipment, Atlas Kit, Dejero, cameras and accessories
- Project management including POC, design, procurement and commissioning
- Travel to remote sites as needed
- Flexibility with schedule is required in response to emergency repair needs
- Design, installation and maintenance of IT and Production IT systems in studio and transmitter broadcast facilities (servers, PCs, laptops, Cloud Services, WAN, LAN)
- End user set up and support for IT systems
- IP based program delivery systems
- General building repairs and maintenance
- Managing HVAC and electrical systems
- Assist with winter snow removal
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Electronics Technician or IT/Computer Engineering diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution preferably specializing in Broadcast Technology
- Minimum of 3-5 years in TV broadcast maintenance and IT systems support
- Must understand all broadcast and production workflows
- Ability to handle pressure, meet tight deadlines and, the ability to multi-task a variety of functions while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Strong diagnostic and analytical troubleshooting skills
- Strong working knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Excellent work follow-up and organization skills with attention to detail
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- May be required to work in restricted or close quarters
- Ability and willingness to work outside in all climates
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
