Summary

The team behind Bell Media’s Digital Video services is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with a strong back-end focus to join our engineering team. In this role, approximately 75% of your work will be back-end development in C# on the .NET runtime, with the remaining 25% contributing to front-end features and experiences.

You will join a dynamic, highly collaborative DevOps team that builds and operates services powering Bell Media’s digital video platforms, supporting millions of streaming sessions across Canada’s leading digital media brands.

Our team believes in owning and supporting our entire technology stack and lives by the mantra: “Code it, Ship it, Run it.”

What You'll Be Doing Daily

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance C# services on the .NET runtime.
  • Optimizing Microsoft SQL Server queries, schemas, and stored procedures to ensure high throughput and reliability.
  • Building and maintaining Apache Kafka producers and consumers to support high-throughput event streaming pipelines.
  • Designing, supporting, and evolving REST APIs across Bell Media’s digital video platform.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex logical bugs and performance issues using profiling tools, execution plan analysis, and structured root-cause debugging.
  • Contributing to the development of Bell Media’s in-house Media Asset Manager.
  • Participating in the team’s ceremonies, including daily stand-up, backlog refinement, sprint planning and reviews with stakeholders.
  • Supporting product and project teams by delivering new features and experiences, with frontend contributions in React or Vue.js as needed.
  • Working with colleagues to test and troubleshoot behaviour in pre-release and live applications.

The Essentials

  • Expert-level C# proficiency with deep knowledge of the .NET runtime — including async/await, memory management, threading, and performance profiling.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server — query optimization, execution plan analysis, index tuning, and schema design for high-volume systems.
  • Production experience with Apache Kafka — designing event-driven architectures, managing consumer groups, partitioning strategies, and offset handling.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, and supporting REST APIs — including versioning, authentication patterns, and observability.
  • Exceptional debugging and troubleshooting skills — able to isolate and resolve complex logical and performance issues through structured analysis and root-cause investigation.
  • Works with others to deliver results, meaningfully contributing to the team and prioritizing group needs over individual needs.
  • Can effectively cope with change, finding ways to advance work and projects.
  • Uses an organized and logical approach to finding solutions to complex problems, looks beyond the obvious to understand the root cause of problems, and proposes several possible solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience effectively communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
  • Passionate about building the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications and services.
  • Willing to participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours support when needed to restore critical services.

The Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with common UX/UI practices
  • Familiarity with web frontend development technologies (React, Vue.js)
  • Familiarity with web frontend testing technologies
  • Familiarity with Containers and Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience with leading, coaching or mentoring team members
