Summary
The Senior Data Product Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping Bell's future as a data-driven organization by driving the creation and implementation of robust data governance processes. This role is critical for defining standards and attributes required to expose data bell wide and the successful candidate will collaborate closely with security teams to ensure that all data standards are compliant with Bell's security priorities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in transforming Bell's currently fragmented data environment into a unified, secure, and highly efficient data ecosystem. This role will play a vital role in the implementation of Bell Data Strategy
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the establishment and maintenance of standards, governance policies, and best practices for data quality and usability for Standard data sets
- Lead the establishment and maintenance of standards, governance policies, and best practices for data quality and usability for Gold data sets
- Collaborate with security teams to embed security controls throughout the data lifecycle, from ingestion to consumption.
- Develop and maintain data security control policies and enforce practices for secure access management.
- Operate within Bell's federated governance model, balancing centralized policy-setting with decentralized execution.
- Develop and maintain governance enforcement practices and compliance reporting mechanisms.
- Leverage platforms like Google Dataplex for metadata management, data cataloging, data quality tooling, and lineage tracking.
- Ensure Google BigQuery is effectively utilized for data storage and transformation from the Standard to Gold data layers.
- Support the transition from a "Big Governance" approach to "Small Governance" as data teams mature and become self-sufficient.
Critical Qualifications
- Proven experience in data product management, data governance, data architecture, or a related field, with a focus on defining and managing data quality and standards.
- Expertise in data governance frameworks and their practical implementation in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of data security principles, including Zero Trust, RBAC/ABAC, encryption methodologies, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PIPEDA, CRTC).
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms, particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as BigQuery and Dataplex.
- Ability to work collaboratively across various organizational teams, including data producers, consumers, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Privacy teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex data concepts into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and foster a data-driven culture.
