The Finance Team manages the performance and risk profile of Bell, ensuring the needs of customers, investors and employees are balanced with long-term business success. We work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute plans that help the company achieve its strategic objectives and ensure financial sustainability.  
 

Position Description:

The Business Unit Controllers team is seeking a Senior Manager for the Bell Mobility Business Unit.  This position is an excellent opportunity to work in one of the largest revenue generating business units in Bell Canada as well as one of the business’ growth areas.

 

This Senior Manager provides accounting policy guidance to Bell Mobility Finance & Operations teams, including analysis and interpretation of current financial performance specifically relating to capital. The successful candidate will also have accountability for working with operations to improve & maintain controls over capital financing, leasing and network accounting processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide classification guidance over $700 M of Bell Mobility’s annual projects requesting capital funding.
  • Be a subject matter expert on IFRS 16 – Leasing impacts on Bell Mobility’s operations – this includes playing an active role in developing internal controls, and reviewing business processes and system impacts.
  • Ensure financial integrity of capital results through the understanding of financial processes and controls, reviewing and approving financial transactions and entries and participating in Capital Governance activities.
  • Manage multiple projects and core activities simultaneously ensuring tight deadlines are met.
  • Become subject matter expert in Mobility business initiatives to provide accounting policy guidance on ad-hoc requests.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process and policy improvements and implement change where required.
  • Oversee one Manager.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) accounting designation as well as 5+ years of working experience, preferably at a large public accounting firm or in a controller/similar role.
  • Strong IFRS technical accounting background with specific experience/knowledge in applying IFRS 16.
  • Must possess excellent people skills and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly with key stakeholders .
  • Proven ability to work in a team, provide training, and foster a positive and rewarding work environment for direct reports.
  • Must demonstrate organizational awareness and have the ability to manage strong relationships within and across cross-functional units.
  • Be highly organized, and possess the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • In-depth problem solving and analysis skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in MS applications including Excel and Word.
