Reporting to the Senior Manager of Enterprise IoT and Fixed Wireless Products, you will be primarily responsible for the development of M2M/IoT and Fixed Wireless devices for Bell, as well as the integration of new wireless technologies into these products and solutions.

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Onboard and validate new wireless products (module, IoT, FWA devices) to meet customer and business requirements, focusing on core aspects of network interworking technologies/services and applications within the devices
  • Lead cross functional engagement  with other experts to assess, design, test and deploy end-to-end service offerings in the IoT/M2M/FWA segments
  • Perform concept and feasibility assessments of potential devices and solutions with a view to business requirements and technology roadmaps
  • Develop technical specifications and test cases for IoT/M2M hardware, OS, application and communication protocol layers.  Find new ways of automating and improving the quality of test cases to improve customer satisfaction, efficiency and time to market.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical requirements for product and solution designs
  • Troubleshoot and identify product issues in the context of an end-to-end solution, assisting partners in driving resolution during development,  qualification and post-launch cycles while meeting defined timelines
  • Apply your expertise in UMTS, LTE and 5G signaling call flows to identify problematic behavior in devices and effectively troubleshoot using drive test and mobile logging tools to establish root causes
  • Provide support to members of Bell Wireless Technology Products, other internal Bell teams and device vendors to ensure product issues and impacts are well understood to maximize product quality and to meet overall business needs in terms of time to market
  • Continually enhance your understanding of the wireless industry and standards, closely monitoring developments relevant to your field
  • Expand and share your expertise within and outside the team, educating and training others
  • Efficiently manage time while working multiple concurrent projects, effectively prioritizing and adapting in a fast-paced, tightly collaborative environment

 

Critical Qualifications:

  • B.Eng/BSc or MSc in Electrical, Computer or Data Systems Engineering
  • Minimum 5 year experience in a wireless network, systems  or device design/development role
  • Solid understanding of IoT/M2M/FWA ecosystem technologies – industry standards, protocols architectures, vendors and products
  • Hands-on experience with IoT/M2M module, device and sensor hardware.  Good familiarity with embedded Linux environments and programming/scripting capabilities a strong asset
  • Expert technical knowledge and significant experience with UMTS/LTE technologies.  Experience with 5G technologies an asset.
  • Ability to analyze UMTS/LTE Layer 3 messaging using logging tools
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking concepts and ability to analyze common application protocols
  • Ability to script, background in software development – able to develop creative solutions/tools to automate testing and workflows
  • Aptitude and interest in pursuing a detailed understanding of underlying functional mechanisms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with these technologies: CAT-M1, NB-IoT, Bluetooth, WiFi, LwM2M, CoAP , VoLTE/IMS, IPv6, OMA-CP/DM/FOTA, GNSS, common wired/wireless sensor interfaces, LTE core and RAN network elements
  • Working experience in specific vertical data device/M2M segments using cloud-based solutions
  • Strong familiarity with Qualcomm chipsets and wireless module/device architecture.  Familiarity with MTK, Intel and other chipsets would also be an asset
  • Experience in applying scrum/agile methodology

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
