The Portfolio Accountant is accountable to the Analyst Operations and Investment for controlling and accounting of all investment transactions (including derivatives, futures, swaps, currency hedges and private placements) managed by Bimcor and external managers hired by Bimcor on behalf of the Pension Funds and Pooled Fund.


The incumbent is responsible for providing accurate and timely transactional and financial reporting in support of providing the Investment group data for these individuals to make informed investment decisions.


 Specifically this responsibility would include:

  • Support and assist in the accounting, valuation and reporting of Alternative Investments held in the Funds (35%)
  • Liaison with the Pension Fund trustees, the clients themselves providing data, answering any queries or resolving discrepancies. (25%)
  • Reconciles and balance to the Trustee reports, resolving differences as they occur.  Eagle Investment System, RBC Online, My State Street are applications utilized in investigating discrepancies. (25%)
  • Preparing monthly financial statements for assigned accounts which include accrual, performance results and valuations; analyzing and explaining any variances. (15%)
    Level of Education Required:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with an Accounting major


Specialized Education in addition to above:

  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) (or in progress)
  • Completion of the Derivatives Fundamentals Course (DFC) is a plus


Work Experience Required:

  • Preference will be given to those with experience in investment/portfolio accounting



  • Mature team player
  • Excellent analytical and organization abilities with superior attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual
  • Strong Computer skills: MS Office


Bilingualism is required (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
