Summary
The Senior ServiceNow Architect – Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) is a senior enterprise architecture role accountable for the end-to-end technical direction, solution integrity and evolution of ServiceNow SPM capabilities.
The role defines target-state architecture, translates business and portfolio strategy into scalable platform solutions, and provides architectural oversight across the solution lifecycle. It emphasizes maximizing out-of-the-box SPM capabilities, maintaining platform integrity, enabling enterprise integration and minimizing unnecessary customization and technical debt.
The successful candidate will combine deep ServiceNow platform and SPM expertise with strong enterprise architecture, governance and technical leadership capabilities. They will partner with the ServiceNow Centre of Excellence, Product Owner, business leaders, Enterprise Architecture, security, data and delivery teams to establish architectural direction, guide complex initiatives and ensure solutions are secure, resilient, maintainable and aligned with enterprise standards.
Key Responsibilities

Own the target-state architecture and technical roadmap for ServiceNow SPM capabilities, establishing the architectural direction and multi-year evolution plans.

Lead architecture for complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning strategic planning, demand, portfolio, resource, financial, and Agile/enterprise Agile planning.

Define enterprise-wide architecture standards, reusable patterns, and guardrails to guide development teams on configuration, integration, and platform-native scripting.

Act as the ultimate platform authority on customization reviews, making strategic decisions to enforce out-of-the-box (OOTB) capabilities and systematically retire technical debt.

Design and approve secure, scalable integration architectures between SPM and external enterprise systems, utilizing Integration Hub, REST APIs, and CMDB data models.

Establish and govern robust platform principles, conducting high-risk code, configuration, and security reviews to guarantee compliance with enterprise security and data standards.

Partner directly with the SPM Product Owner, Enterprise Architecture, and business leaders to translate corporate strategy into sequencing recommendations and executable architecture.

Drive technical discovery and feasibility assessments for new ServiceNow releases and SPM features, identifying platform upgrade opportunities and functional trade-offs.

Provide technical direction and leadership across concurrent delivery squads, mentoring senior developers and architects while promoting consistent enterprise engineering practices.

Serve as the escalation leader during major production incidents, orchestrating rapid troubleshooting, root-cause analyses, and critical architectural resolution plans.
Critical Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant technology experience, including substantial ServiceNow solution architecture and delivery leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a lead or senior architect for enterprise-scale ServiceNow implementations.
- Deep implementation and architecture experience with ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).
- Strong hands-on knowledge of ServiceNow configuration, JavaScript, server- and client-side scripting, Flow Designer, security and platform data models.
- Experience defining target-state architecture, roadmaps, reference patterns and architecture governance.
- Experience designing integrations using REST APIs, Integration Hub and enterprise integration patterns.
- Strong understanding of non-functional requirements, including security, privacy, performance, scalability, resilience and supportability.
- Experience leading architecture reviews, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Proven ability to resolve complex technical and functional issues in large enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications

ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM).

ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified System Administrator (CSA).

ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect (CMA) credential.

Extensive experience aligning SPM architectures with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and integrating complex CMDB environments.

Deep knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and portfolio/delivery frameworks (e.g., SAFe, Agile, ITIL, PMI/PMBOK).

Proven track record of operating within a ServiceNow Center of Excellence (CoE) and governing complex vendor-built deliverables.

Experience implementing advanced SPM capabilities such as Investment Funding, Scenario Planning, and Enterprise Agile Planning.
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
