Summary
The Finance Team manages Bell’s financial performance and risk profile, helping balance the needs of customers, investors, and employees while supporting the company’s long-term success. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the team develops and executes strategies that drive financial sustainability and business growth.
As part of the Finance organization, the BCE Tax Group oversees all tax matters for the BCE/Bell group of companies in Canada and internationally. This includes income tax, indirect taxes, withholding taxes, customs duties, and other tax-related obligations. The team plays a key advisory role across the organization, partnering with Legal, Treasury, M&A, Operations, and other business units on strategic initiatives, tax planning, compliance, audits, and complex business transactions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following:
- Review of the monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provision of Canadian corporations;
- Prepare of annual true-up entries for Canadian corporations;
- Prepare and documentation of corporate tax returns and partnership information returns, and other tax documents for Canadian corporations and partnerships (eg: tax elections, disclosures, W-8, etc)
- Prepare the monthly tax installments of Canadian corporations;
- Manage government audits of Canadian corporations, including answering queries and drafting memos in support of tax positions;
- Review agreements and provide guidance on the applicability of withholding taxes;
- Provide guidance on HR related tax matters;
- Perform research on tax issues and prepare/review memos in support of tax positions;
- Compute the adjusted cost base on foreign legal entities;
- Assist the Tax Director or VP Taxation in special projects, as required
Critical Qualifications
- University degree with professional accounting designation or lawyer title with strong accounting skills;
- Master’s Degree in tax or CICA In-Depth tax course I and II completed (or equivalent);
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant corporate tax experience;
- Strong tax accounting knowledge;
- Solid organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Bilingual is a strong asset (English, French);
- Computer literate (Microsoft office, Taxprep);
- Knowledge of SAP, Alteryx and AI tools is an asset
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
