Position: ENG Technician, Bell Media
Location: 100 Queen St Ste 1400, Ottawa (Ontario)
Salary: Group 4A - Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; Overtime as required. Must be available to work evenings and weekends
Responsibilities
- As the Switcher/Director, you are a team leader in the control room. You are responsible for the switching and direction of CTV’s Question Period and packaged items
- Responsible for set up and operation of the production switcher and associated technical equipment in the control room environment
- Collaborates with the Producer to execute the technical and artistic vision for each production
- Pre-production and taped/live events. Orchestrate control room set up while simultaneously evaluating and assigning all video inputs taking into consideration timing and video levels
- Field camera, sound and lighting work, both ENG and EFP
- Travel to locations (local, national, international) to capture audio / video content
- Operate cameras, microphones (wired, wireless, boom), portable mixer, lighting instruments, and non-linear editing software
- Live stream, file transfer, and baseband feed audio / video content
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years industry experience
- Valid driver’s license & Passport
- Familiarity with all aspects of electronic news gathering / production / editing / feeding / streaming / file transfer
- Operating knowledge of professional broadcast equipment including but not limited to Sony PXW-X400 cameras, digital recording media, waveform monitors and vectorscopes
- Experience in news-style editing using non-linear editing platforms both in the station and on field notebook computers
- Working knowledge of consumer and prosumer devices for image / video capture, streaming and transfer
- Must have strong leadership skills as well as great people skills since the relationship between the Director, Engineering, Technical Staff
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Takes ownership and accountability for assigned projects
- Familiarity with all aspects of field video, audio and lighting
- Ability to travel on short notice
- Proficient in Avid, iNews
- Knowledge of chyron
- Experience with DSLR camera
