Position: Reporter CTV News Channel

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Salary: Commensurate with qualification and experience

Hours of work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. Shift may include weekends.



  • LIVE hits for CTV News Channel and various CTV News platforms
  • Cover Canadian political stories and international stories as assigned by the Sr. Producers and assignment desk
  • Work with CTV News colleagues and international partners to provide the most comprehensive hits and talkbacks for CTV News
  • Develop and maintain news contacts
  • Occasional anchoring duties and filing reports for CTV National News, as required
  • Generate story ideas
  • Work cooperatively with bureau resources and staff
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Journalism degree or diploma
  • Proven excellence in news reporting
  • Must possess superb writing, research and on-air presentation skills
  • A keen interest in and understanding of the Canadian political landscape and current affairs coupled with strong news judgement
  • Ability to pivot to breaking news and work independently under pressure
  • A critical thinker who pitches compelling and diverse stories
  • Ability to travel on short notice for extended periods
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-platform news team
  • Knowledge of languages  in addition to English
  • Ability to deal with new and developing technology
  • Strong people skills and a good understanding of journalistic ethics is mandatory
  • Minimum of 7 years broadcasting experience in a news environment


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
