Position Description:

The Cyber Security Analyst Tier 2 provides support for Managed Security Services as well as the Corporate Firewalls.  The Analyst is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring of customer security devices as well as our internal Corporate Firewalls.  The Analyst plays an integral role in the maintenance and troubleshooting of the Security infrastructure, including the Digital Certificate Authority (PKI), the Managed Security Infrastructure and our Corporate Firewall environment. 



  • Supports and administers the remote access (VPN) and Firewall solutions for Bell Aliant Internal, External, Partners and our Customers.
  • Monitor customer’s Security devices and respond to troubles and alarms as required Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM and through an on call rotation to cover afterhours.
  • Ensure all requests, changes, and incidents are handled efficiently between the customer, internal groups and external third parties.
  • Support and administer the Bell Aliant digital certificate service (Bell Aliant Public Key Infrastructure or Certificate Authority).  
  • Support and administer the Corporate Firewall environment.
  • Coordinate and implement new customers within the Bell Aliant Managed Security Service, Remote Access, and FibreOp 5IP services.


Education/Certifications Required:

  • Completion of a two year community college program in a network, programming or operating system discipline or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant industry certifications in the areas of networking and or security, from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto would be an asset.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in the client/server field with previous network and/or telephony experience. 
  • Experience at the working level in the areas of application Analyst, PC maintenance or system Analyst is desired.
  • Experience in dealing directly with customers is required.


Additional Skill Set:

  • Since Network Security Services are critical to the operation of the businesses and customers we support, ESOC provides a 7x24 level of support.  The Cyber Security Analyst’s must be able to work effectively while maintaining customer focus in stressful situations.  They must work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.
  • In order to ensure proper levels of support, a Cyber Security Analyst will possess a number of skills including:  a basic knowledge of UNIX, PC administration / maintenance, database fundamentals, problem solving and a basic knowledge of IP addressing and routing.  The Analysts must also be able to interpret alarms for fault determination. 
  • The Cyber Security Analyst possesses sufficient knowledge to determine when it is necessary to involve the next level of support and should have an excellent knowledge of proper methods for notification and escalation.  They must interface with vendors, users, engineering, product management and other system Analysts for testing and implementation of new products and upgrades and be able to produce documentation to be used by fellow team members.
