     Name and description o f hiring department:

CSMS 9-1-1 does the surveillance and maintenance of the 9-1-1 data and voice network, is in charge of troubles reported on the network, executes post cut-over changes on the network and at PSAP premises. We actively participate on different projects impacting 9-1-1 and we answer address queries, do call traces and execute AULs requests from PSAPs.


      Main Job Duties / Accountabilities include:

  • React quickly and find solutions to outages or major impacts on the 9-1-1 network respecting criteria established by the 9-1-1 team such as application of reroutes in case 9-1-1 centers have to go to their backup sites
  • Perform surveillance and analysis of 9-1-1 systems (voice, data and IP network: DMS, IPVPN LAN/WAN, ISN network and MPLS)
  • Answer support requests from different key players and do the appropriate follow-up
  • Analysis of 9-1-1 logs, wireless/wireline phone trace, address requests, AULs, and line testing on phantom calls received at 9-1-1 call centers using Info-DMS/ ACUT/TIM/BCRIS/PAIRE/CNA/IBI/NCMS/NM1
  • Document in a ticketing system all troubles, problems and actions taken on the 9-1-1 network
  • Perform other tasks related to 9-1-1 operations such as running scripts, 9-1-1 system cleanup, statistics, etc.
  • Act as a team player with a focus on customer satisfaction
  • Work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Organize and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment


As necessary, agree to undergo a background security check to meet a customer’s clearance requirement.


     Essential Qualifications / Skills:

  • Candidates who are part of the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have;
    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
  • Candidates from outside the Craft and Services bargaining unit must have:
    • A college diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of a high school diploma 
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Knowledge with IP MPLS/VPN
  • Intermediate knowledge and autonomy in computers/workstations
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple issues at the same time
  • Ability to make decisions promptly and manage risks while under pressure
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving abilities


Working Conditions:

This is a 24/7 operation and the requirement for this position is to be available to work on evening/night and weekend shifts.  The candidate may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs (schedules within a given day are prepared by the Company with due consideration to seniority), to participate in a standby program and work overtime as needed.  Available and flexible to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as needed.


Note that many working conditions are subject to terms outlined in the collective agreement.


Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
