The BRS BI team collaborates with partners across the organization and provides strategic guidance supported with data.  We work with the latest and greatest BI technologies like Teradata, SAS, Microstrategy and Hadoop.  We enable better results through an integrated market view of customers and competition.

 

In an ever-changing and dynamic environment, the candidate should be flexible, have strong time management skills and be capable of balancing many projects simultaneously with short deadlines for completion.  The Advisor will work in a cross-functional team environment.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Advisor of Advanced Analytics, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following:

  • Develop decision-grade analyses by combining customer profile, behavior with product usage and best-in-class marketing tools, such as predictive models to support our campaign, product features and services strategies. 
  • Develop data processes to enable enhanced analytics and reporting for Bell Residential.
  • Define project scopes, data sourcing, developing and formalizing processes to track effectiveness and performance.
  • Work closely with Product, Content, Marketing, Technology and other stakeholder groups.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • BSc. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience assessing data or developing statistical models using data-mining methods, supervised learning, multivariate and categorical data analysis
  • Advanced SQL programming skills
  • Functional experience using SAS
  • Experience working with large data sets
  • Experience with data-mining software
  • Functional experience working in UNIX and Teradata environments
  • Proficient use of MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Investigate data/process anomalies, propose and implement solutions
  • Demonstrable history of cross-team collaboration
  • Ability to engage and persuade business users

 

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of telecom data (TV, Internet, Home Phone, Mobility and Smart Home)
  • Experience with Hadoop platform and analytics tools
  • Experience with SAS Enterprise Miner

 

Leadership and Communication Competencies:

  • Ability to manage time through understanding of priorities and what is, or is not, feasible within a set time frame
  • Autonomous, disciplined self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of an extended team
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts to a general audience, including peers and senior management
  • High degree of self-motivation, strong willingness to learn
  • Good interpersonal skills

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
