Position: Broadcast Engineering Technician, Bell Media

Location: 9 Channel Nine Court, Toronto (Ontario)

Salary: Group 5/11 - Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required. Candidate must be able to work evening and overnight shifts.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Installing and supporting broadcast equipment and systems including:
    • Production switchers, routers and file servers
    • Broadcast automation and control systems
    • Broadcast and network distribution and monitoring systems
    • Cameras and display devices
    • Remote and media over IP productions
  • Partnering with project engineers to integrate multi-stage broadcast and media initiatives.
  • Collaborating with operations and production personnel to provide 24/7/365 zero downtime content delivery.
  • Documenting and communicating changes to installations and systems.

 

Essential Qualifications / Competencies:

  • The ability and desire to be part of a team.
  • The ability and desire to accelerate the transformation of systems and processes and commit to a continuous improvement philosophy.
  • The ability and desire to collaborate with clients, partners, and vendors to solve problems and improve workflows.
  • Post-Secondary education in electronics, computer systems, or television related studies.
  • Experience working in a Broadcast or related environment.

Competence in troubleshooting complex problems under tight timelines in dynamic environments.

 

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Experience working with software, databases and network systems within a Broadcast environment.
  • Experience with broadcast standards such as SMPTE 292M, 424M, 2022, 2110, etc.
  • Experience with IT standards such as TCP/IP, OSI model, FTP, SNMP, RTP, etc.
  • Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments.
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and able to carry a challenge through to completion without supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
