Location: Variable (over Canada)

Status: Temporary - full time (12 Month Contract)

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: Variable

 

Responsibilities:      

  • Report for all CTV News platforms 
  • Cover stories as assigned by the assignment desk
  • News gather in the field to provide the most comprehensive reports and talkbacks for CTV National News and other CTV News platforms
  • Provide content for CTV News digital platforms and social media channels
  • Develop and maintain news contacts
  • Generate story ideas
  • Work cooperatively with bureau resources and staff
  • Manage logistics including travel
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:          

  • Degree or Diploma in Journalism
  • Proven excellence in news reporting
  • Must possess superb writing, research and on air presentation skills
  • A keen interest in and understanding of current events coupled with very strong news judgement
  • A thorough understanding of both the Canadian political and judicial system
  • Ability to work independently under pressure of hard deadlines
  • Ability to travel on short notice for extended periods
  • Ability to work long hours
  • Knowledge of languages in addition to English
  • Ability to deal with new and developing technology
  • A thorough understanding of media law
  • Minimum of 5 years broadcasting experience in a news environment

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
