Summary

Do you want to move beyond notebooks and build AI solutions that function in the real world? We are looking for a hands-on Data Scientist II to help develop the next generation of AI-powered applications for Bell.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between data science and software engineering. You won’t just train models; you will wrap them in APIs, build interactive prototypes, and integrate Generative AI into products that enhance customer experiences and internal operations. You will work closely with stakeholders to iterate on ideas and collaborate with senior engineers to implement scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop AI-Driven Applications: Write clean, robust Python code to build internal tools and AI assistants. You will leverage Generative AI (LLMs) and existing ML models to solve tangible business problems.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Use tools like Streamlit to quickly turn concepts into interactive demos. You will present these prototypes to stakeholders, gather feedback, and iterate rapidly to find the best solution.
  • Build & Manage APIs: Design and implement RESTful APIs to serve AI models to other applications, ensuring they are reliable and efficient.
  • Collaborate on Architecture: Participate in high-level technical discussions. You will contribute to system design decisions and learn how to architect scalable solutions under the mentorship of senior team members.
  • Model Implementation: Work hands-on with cutting-edge technologies (such as Nano Banana, Google Imagen, and Veo) to integrate advanced media and text models into our production environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work side-by-side with Product Managers, Data Analysts, and Software Engineers to translate business requirements into technical implementations.

Critical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software development or data science engineering. You are comfortable writing production-ready code, not just research scripts.
  • Strong command of Python and SQL. Experience building web frameworks/APIs (e.g., FastAPI, Flask) is essential.
  • Practical experience working with LLMs, APIs (OpenAI, Gemini, etc.), or standard ML libraries. You know how to take a pre-trained model and make it useful.
  • Experience working within a cloud environment (GCP is preferred, AWS/Azure is acceptable).
  • Ability to work in an agile environment, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and adapt to changing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on projects involving Generative AI for text or media (image/video generation).
  • Familiarity with Streamlit for dashboarding, or basic HTML/CSS/JS knowledge to tweak user interfaces.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and model deployment processes.
  • French and English (an asset).

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
