Position Description:

As a leader within the Digital Media Development team in Network, you will play a key role in the building and influencing of how we deliver on Bell Media’s digital platforms, which connect audiences across all of our brands and delights users with new and engaging experiences every day.

 

In this role, you will be supporting a team of over 70 people who build and support the platforms behind our Sports, News and Entertainment bands and our Digital Video Pipeline.

 

Job Duties/ Accountabilities:

  • Drive the continuous improvement of the end-to-end software lifecycle process (architecture, development, deployment, support);
  • Lead the software and system architecture to ensure a great user experience and cost effective delivery at scale;
  • Partner and collaborate across Bell Media and Network to ensure best end to end digital experience for our customers;
  • Accelerate the adoption and convergence of emerging software, business intelligence and cloud technologies underpinning our Network software-centric strategy.

  

Key Qualifications/ Competencies:

  • Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams, including the following:
    • Great Coach - experience in leading and coaching people and teams to improve performance and creating enthusiasm for the work we do;
    • Passionate – ability to energize and motivate those around them to deliver on Bell Media's priorities;
    • Change Leader – highly effective in the ability to mobilize teams and execute on critical initiatives needed to transform our business;
    • Bridge Builder – collaborates and partners with key stakeholders to deliver solutions that maximizes value delivery sooner;
  • Experience in leading Agile software development teams using Scrum or Kanban;
  • Experience with continuous integration, continuous delivery, build and test automation;
  • Experience developing scalable applications on modern frameworks;
  • Prior experience with commercial content management tools & vendors;
  • Excellent understanding of commercial OTT services, modern Web Services and APIs;
  • Excellent understanding of the services provided by public cloud providers such AWS, MS Azure, GCP;   
  • Experience with Streaming video protocols such as HEVC, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Microsoft Smooth Streaming;
  • Prior software development, architecture or system integration experience using Java, JavaScript or Python a plus;
  • Experience in Mobile applications integration;
  • Keen attention to Security and Privacy;
  • Experience with Authentication & Authorization services;
  • Experience in systems servicing large amounts of data like Sports Statistics;
  • Understanding of the Ads and Analytics landscape
