Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead, inspire, and develop our engineering teams to deliver high quality services to our clients. 
This role requires a strong people leader who thrives on building engaged, high-performing teams while ensuring operational excellence in event production and engineering services. They will lead a team of remote broadcast engineers in the daily support of event and content production, including mobile trucks, studios, control rooms, remote content acquisition, streaming playout systems, maintenance, remote sites, uplink systems and encoding and other relevant systems.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the successful candidate will be passionate about coaching, collaboration, implementing best practices, and driving efficiency without compromising quality or service. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Motivate, engage, and develop engineering staff through mentorship, coaching, professional growth, effective performance feedback and informal check-ins
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations for engineering planning, design, and execution, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Resolve performance challenges through coaching, timely problem solving, conflict resolution, and corrective action when needed.
  • Create and maintain a positive, accountable, and collaborative work culture, championing continuous improvement 
  • Develop and maintain updated job descriptions, staffing forecasts, and hiring plans/processes.
  • Onboard, integrate and engage new staff and freelance resources effectively.

Talent Development & Training

  • Design and implement training programs and policies to ensure technical staff remain skilled, prepared, and aligned with current and changing business needs.
  • Monitor skill levels across the team, identifying opportunities for growth and developing tailored improvement plans.
    Actively support and encourage career development to build long-term team strength and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Financial Management

  • Manage and control budgeting, resource allocation, expenditures, forecasting, and overall departmental financial and administrative performance.
  • Manage applicable scheduling, timecards, invoicing, expense reporting, and cost reviews with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prioritize workload assignments and ensure resources are deployed effectively to meet production and service requirements.
  • Work closely with production services to align schedules, capacity, and resources for ongoing and upcoming events.
  • Drive operational efficiency while maintaining high-quality client and stakeholder service standards. Where appropriate take the lead on solving problems across teams.
  • Implement structures, systems, and processes that improve performance, agility and support delivering results.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Build strong working relationships across Dome especially with the Director of Production Services, Engineering Planning, Support teams, and other technical/business partners to ensure aligned priorities for on-going maintenance and facilities expansion
  • Ensure open, transparent, and effective communication across teams and with key stakeholders.
  • Actively support and cascade cross organizational initiatives, ensuring accountability and follow-through.
  • Collaborate and engage with extended team resources ensuring cultural connectedness.

Critical Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in media/broadcast engineering or operations.
  • Minimum 3-4 years in a supervisory or leadership role managing engineers or technical operators
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast media operations, including studios, event mobiles, and transmission/distribution. Track record of recommending and implementing policies, best practices, and process improvements
  • Proven ability to coach, mentor, train, motivate, engage and evaluate staff to achieve high performance and overall departmental effectiveness.
  • Excellent technology capabilities with strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Experience managing multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced, team-based environment. 
  • Hard-working, collaborative, and process-driven with a focus on delivery excellence, supporting staff with technical challenges, collaborating with remote engineers to execute technical projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound, independent decisions with urgency and adaptability.
  • Willingness to provide evening and weekend support and some travel as needed.
  • College diploma, university degree, or equivalent industry experience in broadcasting/remote production.

 

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
