Summary

The NewsTalk Content Director is a visionary leader focused on the evolution of our NewsTalk radio stations into dynamic, multi-platform content powerhouses. This role demands a strategic mind capable of innovating content creation, distribution, and audience engagement across all relevant channels. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying and nurturing new talent, significantly broadening our audience reach, and transforming how listeners engage and interact with our content and talent. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that seamlessly integrates broadcast, digital (podcasts, streaming, social media, website), and emerging platforms
  • Work with local Program Directors to define and refine the content, brand identity, and editorial standards for the multi-platform environment. and relevant content that appeals to both existing loyal listeners and new, diverse demographics
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging trends in news, talk, and digital media to inform content development and innovation
  • Collaborate closely with digital, marketing, and sales teams to maximize monetization opportunities
  • Explore and implement new content formats, technology and distribution methods to meet evolving audience preferences
  • Design and execute innovative strategies to expand the station's listener base
  • Develop creative approaches to foster deeper listener engagement and community building across all platforms
  • Leverage data analytics, audience feedback, and market research to continuously refine content strategy and optimize performance
  • Ensure content is optimized for discovery, accessibility, and consumption across various digital platforms 
  • Actively scout, recruit, and mentor promising new on-air personalities, producers, digital content creators, and subject matter experts
  • Work with local Program Directors to provide coaching and development opportunities to existing and new talent, empowering them to excel in a multi-platform content landscape
  • Cultivate a creative, collaborative, and high-performance environment that encourages

Critical Qualifications

  • Proven experience in radio programming, content creation, or digital media leadership, with a strong preference for NewsTalk or similar formats. 
  • Demonstrated success in transforming traditional media operations into successful multi-platform content ventures. 
  • Deep understanding of digital content strategies, podcasting production, social media engagement, and audience analytics tools. 
  • Exceptional talent scouting, development, coaching, and mentorship abilities. 
  • Strong strategic thinking, creative problem-solving skills, and a track record of innovation. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire teams. 
  • Familiarity with broadcast operations, digital content management systems, and audio production software. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

 

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
