Reporting to the Regional General Manager, and working from our Saskatoon newsroom, this decisive, self-motivated, progressive thinking individual will be applying his/her measureable talent and leadership skills to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and be accountable for the development of daily news content for broadcast and online.
  • Initiate and develop online and social media strategies to increase viewer engagement.
  • Provide direction and guidance to assignment, reporting and editorial staff.
  • Participate in the strategic and forward planning of the News editorial product, all events and features put to air ensuring our news programs exceed the CTV, CBSC and RTNDA guidelines.
  • Promote CTV, develop effective community relations, and represent and comment on behalf of the station when issues or complaints arise.
  • Liaise with Bell Media on issues effecting CTV stations or the CTV Network.
  • Scheduling of staff, departmental budgeting, employee relations and other administrative functions.


Qualifications:

  • We are seeking a successful leader with extensive practical experience in broadcast journalism
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Broadcast Journalism. 
  • Strong team leader with effective people and motivational skills and a demonstrated record of success in local television news.
  • Professional knowledge of the principles and practices required to create effective local news stories for broadcast.
  • Proven experience in viewer engagement through online and social media content.
  • Sound knowledge of journalistic ethics and editorial law.
  • Must be a leader with the effective communication and interpersonal skills required to build a team.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning ability on the local and regional level
  • Proven track record of contributing to local news ratings growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to station revenue growth through effective teamwork with Sales Manager and Promotion Director.

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French)
