Job Description
Position: Photojournalist, Bell Media
Job Status: Regular - Full Time
Location: Toronto, ON
Salary: As per Collective Agreenment, Unifor Local 79M - Group 6
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; Overtime as required
Responsabilities:
- Operate Electronic News Gathering (ENG) field camera, sound, and lighting for digital and broadcast platforms
- Ability to travel on short notice to field locations in and around the GTHA and internationally
- Live stream, file transfer, and baseband feed audio /video content for use on various platforms
- Responsible for driving and maintaining broadcast news vehicle daily
- Work with Reporters and Guests daily on Live TV
- Set up, carry and operate a portable electronic camera /audio/transmission equipment for live reporter hits for CP24 and CTV
- Set-up and operation of video cameras and other related technical equipment in both studio and ENG modes
- Consult with producers, reporters and assignment desk to provide creative input to the production of live hits in the field
Critical Qualifications
- Highly skilled in the use of professional broadcast equipment, digital recording media
- Familiarity with all aspects of electronic news gathering /production /feeding /file transfer and transmitting live images using bonded streaming equipment
- Broad knowledge of consumer and prosumer devices for image and video capture
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving technical issues in the field and acting as technical prime on site
- Valid Ontario driver’s license & passport with no barriers of entry to the United States, or international destinations
- No barriers to security clearances required for members of the media
- Ability to plan logistics related to content production and /or travel
- 3 to 5 years news industry experience
- Above average knowledge of local news processes and geography /traffic in the GTHA and surrounding area
- Knowledge of the principles of picture composition and remote production procedures
- Thrives in a Breaking News environment
- Strong people skills
- Other duties as assigned
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
